SBA Helps Thanksgiving Day Travelers Stay Stress-free
Economy Parking Available to Save More this Holiday Season
SANTA BARBARA, CA – November 21, 2019 – With the Thanksgiving Day holiday almost upon us, many travelers are hoping to avoid the chaos of major airports and reach their destinations stress-free. Especially at the holidays, Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) is the ‘depart differently’ airport that offers affordable fares without the traffic jams and crowds of its much larger southerly airport counterpart (hint: LAX). SBA offers daily direct flights to 11 destinations: Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Seattle. From these points, travelers can get anywhere from Bozeman to Kalamazoo and beyond.
But with travel on the upswing everywhere, parking your car before jumping on a plane requires a tad more planning at peak times. That’s why SBA is offering travelers another option worth planning for. Add an extra 30 minutes to your travel time, and you can save some significant money on airport parking. The Airport has plenty of room in its off-site lot at the bargain basement price of only $10 per day. Follow the directional signs near the Airport to the lot located off Hollister Avenue and Fredrick Lopez Road, just west of Fairview Avenue in Goleta. Shuttle service is available to the Airline Terminal every 15 minutes. Long-term terminal parking will still be available for $13.00 per day, but expect that this parking will go fast.
Based on predictive data, the busiest travel days at SBA for the Thanksgiving Day holiday will be November 24 through November 27 (day prior) with nearly 3,000 daily passengers each day. SBA encourages passengers to be at the Airline Terminal no later than 60 minutes before their flight. SBA’s airlines will be observing a 40-minute cut-off for check-in. With a timely arrival, passengers can be confident that their departure experience will be efficient and stress-free
“We want to ensure those who are traveling during the holidays have the best travel experience possible whether they are leaving or coming to Santa Barbara,” says Airport Director, Henry Thompson. “The holiday season should be a fun and special time, not a stressful one, and we encourage outbound travelers to plan ahead and enjoy the cost-saving benefit of parking in our economy lot and ride our shuttle to the Terminal.”
TSA normally enjoys much faster processing through security checkpoints than major airports, however, some additional time may be needed during peak days. While it’s completely allowable, TSA will be taking a bit more time to look closer at Grandma’s pumpkin pie. Travelers can assist in keeping the process moving by avoiding any prohibited items in your carry-on bags.
